Mark Salchak, Board Secretary

After a 31-year career as a Real Estate Broker, Mark entered IBH as a client because of addiction and alcoholism in 2005. In 2008, Mark was asked to join the Spiritual Care Team at IBH Addiction Recovery Center in Akron.

In 2014, after a year of planning, Mark was appointed director of the newly formed REACH Project, a non-clinical aftercare community for IBH clients. REACH stands for recovery, education, accountability community and hope. REACH is one of the most effective programs of its kind in Northeast Ohio and currently has an 84% success rate and an average of over 300 days of recovery time. Mark is also Certified Peer Supporter and Supervisor.

Since 2014, REACH has provided over 40,000 hours of community service and support meetings and has supported nearly 2,000 members.

In 2015, Mark and REACH were awarded the Maggie Carroll Smith Advocacy “Trail Blazer” Award by the Summit County ADM Board. Mark earned a certificate in Spiritual Direction from John Carroll University in 2014, a certification in Applied Positive Psychology in 2017, and certification in Emotional Intelligent Leadership from Case Western University in 2019. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Walsh University in 2020.
