Recovery Community Center (RCC) Manager - Job Description
The Summit Recovery Hub is a recovery community organization (RCO) in Summit County, OH founded in 2022 to respond to the needs of persons living with behavioral health challenges. We are a independent, non-profit and recovery led peer run organization (PRO) supporting adults through direct services including enhanced recovery navigation, a recovery community center (RCC) and advocacy. In addition to providing direct services, we work diligently for systemic change and contribute to the growing movement to end stigma and discrimination against persons living with behavioral health disorders. Mental Health and Addiction are serious human rights issues that deserve a powerful, collective response.
Position Summary
The Recovery Community Center provides a safe environment for adults seeking or sustaining their recovery to learn new life skills, build recovery community, access resources, receive peer support and build internal resources that build their recovery capital. The Recovery Community Center manager ensures that programming in the center is culturally relevant, trauma informed, strengths-based and informed by those with lived experience of living with behavioral health challenges.
Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Recovery Community Center Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the recovery community center. The Recovery Community Center Manager serves as a role model for those seeking or sustaining recovery from a behavioral health challenge and leads activities and support services for the center. Additionally, the Recovery Community Center Manager works within the limitations of the Summit Recovery Hub’s resources and in compliance with grants, contracts and agency policies and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recovery Community Center Coordination
Facilitates a robust program for those seeking or sustaining recovery from behavioral health challenges.
Provides services in the recovery community center in compliance with contracts and grant awards, including the following: Educational and life skills workshops, Creative arts activities, Peer support, Mutual support meetings, Special events.
Supports the development of a recovery community center curriculum in keeping with contract- and grant related goals and objectives, and monthly calendars of events; facilitates workshops on a daily basis.
Orients participants to the recovery community center; provides support and resources to all participants.
Serves as a role model for participants.
Assists participants in appropriate behavior and in developing interpersonal relationships; resolves conflicts between participants as needed.
Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation to participants as needed.
Facilitates intakes, assessments, and develops safety plans with clients eligible for drop-in services as needed.
Ensures that the recovery community center space is attractive and clean, and that supplies are stocked and used wisely.
Conducts outreach to young people to engage in recovery community center services, and maintains sign in sheets of all participants that visit the recovery community center in a binder; inputs data into the database on a daily basis.
Supports workshop facilitators, volunteers, and interns in conducting their work in the recovery community center space.
Works with partners and fosters meaningful collaboration with supportive services for the recovery community center, including attending and facilitating meetings with outside providers prior to recovery community center hours.
Provides on-site support and guidance to entry level recovery center staff.
Other
Annually, as part of supervision, develops a professional development plan identifying personal goals, objectives and activities.
Actively participates in supervision and staff trainings.
Assists with development of partnerships to foster and strengthen drop-in center programming.
Communicates relevant information and needs between clients and other direct service staff.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Lived experience in sustaining recovery from a behavioral health disorder (mental health and/or substance use disorder)
OMHAS Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS)
Experience in program development, developing curriculum, and facilitating groups appreciated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to be dependable and present Ability to multi-task and deal with high numbers of individuals at one time Knowledge of at-risk behaviors. Ability to have healthy boundaries working with individuals. Ability to respond to individuals moving toward crisis with de-escalation techniques and appropriate support Ability to serve as a role model for recovery. Ability to administer policies and procedures that ensures the safety and confidentiality of program participants Ability to develop positive relationships with participants, colleagues and supervisors Ability to assume a leadership role in initiating workshops and activities. Excellent communications skills.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary range is 35k-42k. This is a full time, non-exempt position. Generous PTO
